Rebuilding your Reputation

This week I am supposed to discuss how I would rebuild a companies reputation.

What I might do first is look at the companies mission statement and values. This would be a great time to address these values and first admit the mistake that was made and repeat the values of the company that are in play. 

As a PR professional you want to fix the mistake the first time. You DO NOT want to promise something and it not happen, or say something that isn’t true and have the media discover it.   

After you have admitted your shortcoming(s) and given the truth about the next steps all you can do is wait it out. If it is a big crisis many companies take five years or more to rebuild their reputation. And if all else fails…change your name.
